Dancers: Rakia Seaborn
Music: Freewrite by Rakia Seaborn

This is a dance about loss. Using a Motown Girl Group as the medium, “But I am not resigned.” zeros in on the concept of maintaining a shiny, glossy veneer as a means of survival when the inner-self is turned upside down by bereavement. With a movement vocabulary inspired by social dances of the 1960’s and the Five Stages of Grief, featuring an original score composed by Seaborn, there is a point of impact and this dance is the aftermath, a culmination of raw reaction and brutal truth.
